Here to Make You Look Good
All my life I’ve been a reader, a writer, and a cook. After wandering in the grown-up world of work for several years, I figured out I could put them together and get paid.
The birth of a Copy editor
My first job using writing/editing and cooking was at a magazine called American Health for Women (owned by Reader’s Digest back in the ’90s), copyediting recipes, fitness pieces, and long-form articles. Copyeditors aren’t technically supposed to question anything besides grammar, but I drove the editor crazy with my compulsive queries about the recipes I was editing. A recipe editor was born! I also found that I had a knack for putting complex fitness instructions into words, making the steps as streamlined and clear as possible.
Next I worked at marthastewart.com, where I could geek out on food and grammar all day long. Eventually I went out on my own and have been a freelance editor ever since. I completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training and am certified as a health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
I love it all! And I would love to help you get your cookbook, yoga/fitness book, or wellness book ready to publish. All you have to do is put your ideas down, and I will help you craft them into a book that is beautifully written and user-friendly.
